I just got back from the Launch Tree Live conference in Las Vegas where I got to meet a bunch of cool people and incredible speakers, a few of which you might recognize
Adam and Mike Filsaime
Adam and Frank Kern
Adam and Marshall Sylver
Bill Walsh and Adam
(I’m a big proponent that these conferences and events are the best place to meet new partners, learn from other marketers and take your business to the next level!)
Jeff Czyzewski, Cam Forbes, Jonny Andrews, Jitt Uppal, Adam Spiel
During one of the breaks, I was speaking with a few of my friends Jeff Czyzewski, Cam Forbes, Jitt Uppal , Jonny Andrews and Brett Ingram, and as we were talking, we were watching people getting a drink from the water cooler.
Now there were 2 water coolers – one was full and one was empty. But I can’t tell you how many people we watched go to the empty water cooler, realize there was no water, and then just walk away….
When they could have walked 2 feet to the left, and get as much water as they wanted from the full water cooler.
And as we were watching this, we thought how close this is to building a business online.
Some people give a little effort, take some action, buy some “programs” or follow some “gurus” — they try it for a few days or weeks but yet they don’t see any success — these are the people I see going to the empty water cooler.
While they may be taking some action, maybe they aren’t taking the right action — they don’t see any success and so they quit.
As they say – you need to take different action to see different results — but most importantly, you need to take the RIGHT action as you are building your internet business.
But a lot of people are confused and they don’t know WHAT action to take!
If you want to see one of the best videos and reports I’ve ever seen about the steps you take to build a business online that will be bigger than you – these are the best videos I’ve ever seen — completely free from Rich Schefren and Todd Brown at Strategic Profits on their website.
If you’re wondering where the full water cooler is – check this out here:

Guilty as charged Adam,
I’ve been working on getting my blog going for 3-4 weeks now. I’ve had some things come up and I am not where I need to be, not getting any results, so that urge to give up and try something else is starting to creep into my thoughts. Posts like these are what will keep those thoughts at bay. Thanks for slapping me upside the head just when I needed it.
Bob
Hi Adam! How funny that people can be so close but yet their thoughts take them so far away!! Been there done that!! Got the T-Shirt!
Glad you are learning all this info ’cause I’m gonna hit you up for it soon! Gonna meet you in Vegas ot one of these conferences one day!!
Have a wonderful day!!
Take care and God bless!
Lisa~
P.S. thank you for sending me to Dean Holland and Starting with Marketing!! He’s awesome and smart!
dude – you beat me to it! that was SUCH a great analogy and we were all talking about how ridiculous that was. sometime people can’t see the forest for the trees.
all the best,
cam
Hi Adam!
How are you man? I fully concur with all that you said above. It’s incredible how so many people just don’t look any further than their nose. I observe things like this all the time.
I’m gonna watch the Scheffy video later. ATM I’m too busy loading a bunch of videos of my own. In the last week or so I’ve put 4 up from our times in Las Vegas and I have the 5th one on the rack right now – LOL.
Just thought I’d come and see what my Boise Buddy was up to. Hey, did we have a great time in Las Vegas or what?
And I see you’re at it again with all those guys. The only one I know is the Jitster but if you’re hanging out with them then they must all be good fellows. Hmm – just a thought – where are the women?
Anyway Spielsy I’d better run – lots to do. I’ll leave this page open and come back to watch the video when I have my latest one up and running.
Take care.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for sharing your observations. We can learn so much from our every day experiences. I ask myself every day if what I’m doing is a profit producing activity or just another “busy” task.
Warmly,

Great post, I wanted to get over to the Launch Tree event but sadly couldn’t fit it into my schedule (and I was only in Vegas about a month ago, long way to go from the UK repeatedly!!), would be interested in any notes or feedback that you have.
It is amazing how close you can be to what you want yet not actually reach out and get hold of it due to sheer ignorance and short-sightedness. I think the main challenge facing us at the moment is to fight that desire to throw in the towel when that quick win isn’t happening and to take a longer term view of sustainable success.
Ill check out the videos in due course. Pop over to my blog and see how things are developing, slightly slower than I would like but I know where I’m headed!!
Cheers
Tom
Hey young Adam!
Check you out with the big shots. Looking very cool. Kern is King.
You and your superb staff have been a tremendous help!
My dream, and I’m sure the hundreds of others you help,
of having a profitable and sustanable internet business would not be realized without your presence.
So many of us that are starting out in this business give up so soon partly because of all the tech, FTP, back office stuff.
We futz around and get frustrated.
By now, I would of taking the sledge hammer to my Dell!
Thanks for taking a chance on me during the Perry Marshall Boot Camp.
I’m glad I probably annoyed Sunny Hill with all my questions! HA.
You offer sooo much and best of all it’s a ‘one stop shop’ with fair and competitive prices.
Thank you for your patience and time.
The amount of question I have should drop as I gain more experience and knowledge.
Or so I hope. LOL. If not, I’ll ask that you charge me for an additional hour so my conscience is clear.
It’s a win win.
Soon, I will teach the next batch of students and others that I attract to my blog and the like.
As of today, my blog is still in the infancy stage.
No problem. I will have a killer one soon enough.
Talk soon. I’m about to watch Conan!

Adam..Hi,
The analagy of the water butts is a new one on me but well worth remembering, probably a new one on Gazzman too!
Nice to see you rubbing shoulders with the Big Shots of the IM World
Thanks for all your techie stuff and help building my new site and blog. (Take a look and see the results of Adam’s handiwork.) Thought I would give you a ‘plug’
Glad you are taking my advice to steer clear of SWINE FLU.
All the best,
Colin
Hi Adam,
This is a great post. I think I have fallen into the “close but no cigar” camp more times than I want to think about down the years but now I am getting some proper coaching from Rich Schefren and Alex Jeffreys I will always keep my mind on track.
How was Launch Tree? I expect it was incredible and THE networking event of the year. I have been indulging in a full water cooler for a while, Rich’s GPS program really gets you focused on where you want to be.

I love this anology Adam it just shows how near and yet so far some people are from being successful in both online and off line business .
I hope to learn from this story Adam.
You rubbing shoulders with the men at the top makes your credebility up ther with Alex.
cheers Mick.
Hi Adam
I like the analogy but I also think it wise to recognise when you are flogging a dead horse so you need to move away.
I can say that I’ve been in both camps, giving up when maybe I shouldn’t have and the other extreme sticking with something when maybe the end game just wasn’t worth it – suppose what I am trying to say is that it is also about making the right call regarding the path you are on.
Hi Adam
Sometimes its really tricky to know when to call a halt and when to go for gold so to speak.
Glad you’ve made a success of it.
Regards
Mike
Hey Adam
I just hopped on your site and saw that you now know Marshall Sylver. He is a great guy an my wife and I have been to two of his boot camps. If you get the opportunity to go to one of his camps, do not miss that. You will thank me later.
I wanted to tell you and the world what a great job your company is doing getting my blog up and functioning. I still have a lot of work to do on it, or I should say you and Sheryl (she is doing a great job) still have a lot of work with my blog. I also want to thank you for taking time last Tuesday NIGHT getting my aweber code inputed to the PPP.
When you get time, look at my site and give me some good ideas to make it smokin!!
Thank you very much and I am very happy with the quality of your business.
Take care
Roger Neumann
Go out and make it a successful day!
Hi Adam,
I couldn’t get to the Launch Tree event as I was on vacation in Thailand, but from the pictures on your post it looks like there were some great speakers.
I’d be interested in any other notes or feedback you had from the seminar.
The thing about the water cooler ….. sometimes you don’t realise you are so close to what you are looking for.
Keep those tips coming.
Thanks
John
Hi Adam
Brilliant analogy. I am a newbie trying to get started in Internet Marketing, fortunately I have a mentor – Alex Jeffreys – but it is still sooo difficult to keep the momentum going and the enthusiasm going when sometimes you appear to be banging your head against a wall.
But I feel that I am ‘that’ close – I just need to keep going!
Thanks for that post though – great.
Barbara Harvey
